BOMI GROUP ITALIAN HEADQUARTER EXPANSION INAUGURATED

New spaces, automation and security are the key words of a project that follows the strategy of efficiency and expansion of the main sites of the Group.

Bomi Group, present in 24 countries around the world with 60 warehouses and over 3,000 employees, is proud to inaugurate the expansion of its Headquarter in Italy, for a total of 29,000 sqm, continuing at the same time the path of efficiency and expansion of its main locations.

After completing the acquisition of important companies in the sector such as Autotrasporti Vercesi, CPS Farmaceutici and Autotrasporti Barbieri and thus consolidating its presence on the territory with 20 locations located across the Italian peninsula, including authorized farma warehouses, transport hubs and temperature storage warehouses, the expansion of the Headquarter in Italy is the result of a process started with the inauguration of the logistics hub in 2019, with the aim of technological improvement and structural expansion of Bomi Group’s locations.

The new area has an extension of 11,000 sqm with controlled temperature, adding to the pre-existing 18,500 sqm, entirely dedicated to logistics and transport activities. Besides the availability for further 9,000 pallet spaces, the new building has more than 1,000 m² of office and meeting rooms.  The facility is authorized to handle pharmaceuticals, supplements and diagnostic kits containing drugs, and is certified ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 45001.

In the new structure, 4500 sqm will be dedicated to transport activities and in particular to the local distribution through the Bomi Health Carrier fleet; to the 57 loading bays already present another 8 will be added, entirely dedicated to the Lombardy region. The great growth of the spaces dedicated to the “last mile” has made possible a total reorganization of the warehouse areas; this requalification, together with the advanced technology of the management of the distribution with the sorter, guarantees great operational efficiency, process automation and the minimization of human error.

Recently, the “BOLOGNA ONE SITE” was inaugurated, a new 15,000 sqm temperature-controlled warehouse located at the Bologna interport, authorized for the storage of drugs, food supplements, psychotropic substances and veterinary products.  Rationalization and efficiency were the key words of a project that led to the closure of 5 peripheral locations in a new single location designed to ensure high synergy between warehousing services and the transport network at temperature Bomi Health Carrier.

The achievement of Corporate Sustainability at economic, social and environmental level is one of the pillars of Bomi’s business strategy and the company’s Headquarter is a clear example of it. The setting and control of different temperature ranges with water systems, fed by groundwater well, and back-up air systems, radiant panels for underfloor heating and high thermal resistance insulation are the main features of the structure that will ensure the achievement of sustainability goals set.
