BOMI GROUP REDUCES CO² EMISSIONS

Implementation of new projects for increasingly sustainable transport

A few days from the presentation of BOMI HEALTH CARRIER , Bomi Group announces the acquisition of the first two natural gas fuelled vehicles which will be deployed to make temperature-controlled deliveries in the urban areas of Rome and Milan.

The two new vehicles IVECO Daily HI-MATIC Natural Power will augment the Bomi Health Carrier fleet, which consists of more than 70 thermo-insulated and refrigerated vehicles, and are already in a position to make deliveries to pharmacies, hospitals, analytical laboratories and patients at home.
The CNG technology was selected by the Company for its numerous advantages in terms of sustainability: while providing the same performance it guarantees reduced engine noise and lower atmospheric emissions of CO² (-76% particulates compared to diesel engines), a fact that is of crucial importance to Bomi Group which has operated as a Health Sector service provider for more than 30 years.

The project has only just started but the aim is to rapidly increase the number of CNG fuelled vehicles operating in Italy with the purchase of new vehicles for the urban areas of Turin, Bologna, Florence, Naples and Bari, all places where Bomi Group has regional Hubs or where the platforms of its most important counterparties are located.
As part of its ever more determined commitment to environmental sustainability, Bomi Group has just renewed its Italian subsidiary’s company car fleet in conjunction with the Bonera Group of Brescia, making the change from diesel engines to hybrid technology .

Following a carefulanalysis of the available options, the decision was made to choose the Toyota Hybrid brand which reduces CO² emissions to a minimum , drives silently and with respect for the environment, provides the highest standard of road traffic safety and economic advantages in terms of expenditure on fuel.
The sustainability project, which has begun in Italy where Bomi Group’s headquarters are located, is destined to be extended to its main subsidiaries with the aim of substituting all company cars by December 2019.

We are aware of the importance of this project”, stated Andrea Nardocci, CFO of Bomi Group. “For more than 30 years we have been active in the Health care sector and now transport has become an integral part of our offer we have become promoters in initiatives aiming at sustainability. The adeherence to SOS-LOG and the path we are following to achieve validation as the leading brand in Sustainable Logistics have been driving factors of a strategy that we have been developing for some time”.
