Picking Farma joins Bomi Group to form a leading European pharmaceutical logistics operator

This operation will enable the Bomi Group to become a leading healthcare logistics operator in Spain and will enhance Picking Farma’s capabilities to serve its customers in Europe

Bomi Group, a leading multinational integrated logistics company serving the healthcare sector, has announced the acquisition of Picking Farma, a Spanish company that has been providing logistics solutions to companies in the pharmaceutical, veterinary and cosmetics sectors for 20 years.

Picking Farma is a historic family business founded in 1998 in Barcelona whose activity is mainly focused on product storage, picking preparation and third party transport to its portfolio of mostly long-standing customers.

This operation will allow the Bomi Group to become a leading healthcare logistics operator in Spain and further strengthen its presence in the pharmaceutical logistics sector, less than a year after entering the Spanish market with another important acquisition in the Madrid area.

Picking Farma has 5 strategically located facilities, 4 in Catalonia and 1 in the Canary Islands, with a total of 52,000 sqm of state-of-the-art temperature-controlled warehouses, 118,000 pallet spaces in GDP +15º+25ºC conditions and 3,000 spaces for pallet storage at +2+8°C and a pharmaceutical factory supply centre authorised by the AEMPS (Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products) together with pharmaceutical product repackaging (secondary packaging).

The WMS software allows the company to guarantee full traceability of products from the time they arrive at the facility until they are dispatched, streamlining all logistical processes.

The strategic intent is to further expand Picking Farma’s presence in Madrid in the near future and to jointly strengthen the Bomi Group’s value proposition in Europe for the pharmaceutical industry.

Marco Ruini will be appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Francisco Castro will continue in the Company as Vice President of Strategy and leader in Spain.

Jordi Cusidò and the management team will continue to lead the company in Spain.

Picking Farma is a benchmark in the Spanish domestic market and will allow the Bomi Group to extend its leadership in the Mediterranean area and develop attractive cross-selling strategies,” commented Felipe Morgulis, COO of the Bomi Group.

In a globalised market, our business objectives are aimed at the European Union, which is already present and is part of our future strategy“, commented Mr. Francisco Castro, Vice Chairman of the Board.

We are pleased to welcome an important and recognised company such as Picking Farma, whose 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical logistics sector will contribute to the development of increasingly concise solutions and offers for the benefit of customers, especially patients, who are at the heart of the healthcare value chain“, concluded Marco Ruini, CEO of Bomi Group.
